Today, men are increasingly seeking professional skincare solutions to address concerns ranging from razor burn to environmental stress. However, for those with sensitive skin, the prospect of a spa treatment can feel daunting. The fear of redness, irritation, or an adverse reaction often overshadows the promise of relaxation. This article aims to demystify the spa experience for men with delicate complexions, offering a guide to safe, soothing, and effective treatments.

Understanding Sensitive Skin in Men

Before booking an appointment, it is crucial to understand what “sensitive” actually means. In dermatological terms, sensitive skin is not a diagnosis but a condition characterized by heightened reactivity to environmental factors, products, or even stress. For men, this is often compounded by the physical act of shaving, which can compromise the skin’s barrier function. The result is a complexion that is prone to redness, tightness, stinging, and visible irritation.

The good news is that professional spa treatments, when executed correctly, can be profoundly beneficial. The key lies in choosing therapies that prioritize barrier repair over aggressive exfoliation, and in communicating clearly with your therapist.

The Golden Rule:

Patch Testing and Consultation

The cornerstone of any safe spa visit for sensitive skin is the pre-treatment consultation. A reputable spa will never rush this step. During this discussion, you should disclose your triggers—whether they are specific ingredients like fragrance or alcohol, or environmental factors like heat and wind. A skilled esthetician will often perform a patch test on a small area of your forearm or behind your ear at least 24 hours prior to your full treatment. This is non-negotiable for those with a history of allergic reactions.

Recommended Treatments for Sensitive Skin

Not all spa offerings are created equal. For the sensitive-skinned gentleman, the following therapies are considered gold-standard options.

1. The HydraFacial (Customized)
While the HydraFacial is famous for its deep cleansing and exfoliation, its true brilliance lies in its customizability. For sensitive skin, the esthetician will skip the more aggressive chemical peels and focus on the device’s vortex-fusion serums, which deliver hyaluronic acid and antioxidants. The suction pressure is also dialed down to avoid causing broken capillaries. The result is an instant glow without the trauma of inflammation.

2. Calming Oxygen Therapy
Oxygen facials are a superb choice for men who experience chronic redness or post-shave irritation. This treatment involves the application of a high-pressure stream of oxygen infused with calming botanical extracts, such as aloe vera, chamomile, and green tea. It is completely non-invasive, requires zero downtime, and works to instantly soothe the skin while boosting cellular oxygenation.

3. LED Light Therapy (Red Light)
Red and near-infrared LED therapy is a miracle worker for sensitive skin. Unlike chemical peels or microdermabrasion, LED is completely non-thermal and non-abrasive. The light penetrates the dermis to stimulate collagen production and reduce inflammation. For men who suffer from rosacea or post-shave folliculitis, a 20-minute red light session can significantly reduce redness and promote healing.

4. Gentle Lymphatic Drainage Massage
Facial massage is often overlooked in men’s skincare, but it is a powerful tool for reducing puffiness and promoting circulation. A lymphatic drainage massage uses light, rhythmic pressure to encourage the removal of toxins. Crucially, for sensitive skin, this is performed with a lubricant that is free of essential oils and fragrance. This treatment is deeply relaxing and helps to de-stress the facial muscles, which often hold tension from daily life.

Treatments to Avoid

Just as important as knowing what to try is knowing what to skip. For sensitive skin, the following are generally contraindicated:

Microdermabrasion::

This physical exfoliation method is often too aggressive for reactive skin and can cause micro-tears.

Chemical Peels (High Concentration)::

Even “light” peels containing glycolic or salicylic acid can cause a flare-up. If you are considering a peel, it must be a very low percentage (under 10%) and performed by a medical professional.

Hot Stone Massage (Facial)::

The intense heat can dilate blood vessels and exacerbate redness.

Steam Treatments::

Prolonged exposure to steam can strip the skin of its natural oils, leading to increased sensitivity.

Pre- and Post-Treatment Care

To maximize the benefits of your spa day, adhere to the following protocol:

48 Hours Prior::

Discontinue the use of any retinoids, retinol, or strong vitamin C serums. These ingredients increase cell turnover and make the skin more vulnerable.

The Morning Of::

Do not shave. Shaving creates micro-abrasions that will sting during the treatment. If you must shave, do so at least 12 hours before your appointment using a fresh, sharp blade and a gentle, fragrance-free shave cream.

Post-Treatment::

For the next 24 hours, your skin’s barrier is slightly compromised. Use only lukewarm water to cleanse, apply a thick, ceramide-rich moisturizer, and absolutely avoid direct sun exposure. Skip the gym for a day, as sweat can irritate freshly treated skin.

The Psychological Benefit

Beyond the physical improvements, there is a profound psychological benefit to spa treatments for men. In a world that often equates masculinity with toughness, allowing oneself to be cared for in a quiet, professional environment is a form of self-respect. It is a declaration that your well-being matters.

Final Thoughts

Sensitive skin should not be a barrier to enjoying the benefits of professional spa care. With the right therapist, the right treatment, and a clear line of communication, you can walk out of the spa not with irritation, but with a calm, balanced, and healthy glow. The modern man does not need to choose between comfort and self-care—with the proper knowledge, he can have both.

If you have sensitive skin, you’re likely all too familiar with this struggle. The culprit is often a common metal allergy, but the good news is that you don’t have to give up on earrings altogether. The solution lies in understanding and choosing hypoallergenic earrings.

Understanding the Problem:

Contact Dermatitis

The adverse reactions are typically a form of allergic contact dermatitis, an immune response triggered by certain metals leaching ions into the skin. The most frequent offender is nickel, a metal used as a base or alloy in many inexpensive jewelry pieces due to its strength and low cost. Cobalt and certain forms of brass or copper can also cause reactions.

“Hypoallergenic” literally means “below normal” or “slightly” allergenic. In the jewelry world, it refers to materials that are less likely to contain these common irritants, making them a safer bet for sensitive ears.

The Gold Standard:

Best Materials for Sensitive Ears

When shopping, look for earrings made from these inherently hypoallergenic materials:

1. Surgical Stainless Steel::

A top choice for new piercings and sensitive skin. It contains chromium, which forms a passive layer that prevents corrosion and nickel leaching. Ensure it is *implant-grade* (specifically ASTM F138) for the highest purity.

2. Titanium::

Lightweight, incredibly strong, and the most biocompatible metal used in jewelry. Implant-grade titanium (ASTM F136) is ideal for fresh piercings and those with severe allergies, as it contains no nickel.

3. Niobium::

Similar to titanium in its biocompatibility, niobium is a pure, hypoallergenic metal that can also be anodized to create beautiful, vibrant colors without using plating or coatings that can wear off.

4. Pure Gold (14k, 18k, 24k)::

High-karat gold (especially 18k and above) is an excellent, though more expensive, option. Be cautious with lower karats (like 10k or 14k), as they contain higher alloy percentages that may include nickel. Look for nickel-free gold.

5. Platinum::

A premium, dense, and naturally white metal that is hypoallergenic and highly durable. It’s an investment piece that is exceptionally safe for sensitive skin.

6. Medical-Grade Plastic::

Polymers like PTFE (Teflon) or Bioplast are flexible, inert, and perfect for temporary wear, active lifestyles, or while healing a reaction.

Materials to Tread Lightly With

* Sterling Silver: While pure silver is fine, sterling silver (92.5% silver, 7.5% copper) can tarnish and sometimes cause reactions due to the copper alloy. It’s often best worn in well-healed piercings.
* Gold-Filled or Gold-Plated: These have a thicker layer of gold over a base metal (like brass or nickel-containing alloy) than standard plating. They are a good *temporary* option, but as the layer wears down, the underlying metal can cause a reaction.
* Acrylic & Certain Plastics: While often hypoallergenic, ensure they are high-quality and free from dyes or additives that could irritate.

Pro Tips for a Reaction-Free Experience

1. Start with Studs::

Hoops and dangles can move more, causing friction. Simple, flat-back labret studs in titanium or steel are the gentlest choice.

2. Opt for Secure Backs::

Butterfly backs can trap moisture and bacteria. Look for flat-back, threadless, or lever-back closures which are easier to clean and more comfortable.

3. Verify Before You Buy::

Don’t just trust the “hypoallergenic” label. Check the specific material composition. Reputable brands will clearly state “implant-grade titanium,” “nickel-free,” or “surgical steel.”

4. Keep it Clean::

Regularly clean your earrings and earlobes with a gentle, alcohol-free solution. Dry thoroughly.

5. Listen to Your Skin::

If a reaction occurs, remove the earrings immediately. Switch to a known-safe material like titanium to allow your ears to heal.

Conclusion:

Embrace Earrings with Confidence

Having sensitive skin doesn’t mean sacrificing style. By becoming an informed consumer and prioritizing quality materials like implant-grade titanium, niobium, and surgical steel, you can build a beautiful, comfortable earring collection. Investing in truly hypoallergenic jewelry is an investment in your comfort and well-being, allowing you to express your personal style without the worry of irritation. Your ears will thank you.

If your earlobes protest against most jewelry, you likely have sensitive skin reacting to certain metals. The solution isn’t to abandon earrings altogether, but to become an informed consumer of hypoallergenic earrings. This guide will help you understand the causes of irritation and how to choose beautiful, comfortable pieces that your skin will love.

Understanding the Culprit:

Nickel and Other Irritants

The most common cause of allergic contact dermatitis from jewelry is nickel. This inexpensive metal is used in many alloys to add strength and shine. Unfortunately, it’s also a top allergen. When sweat interacts with nickel-containing earrings, it causes the metal to leach ions that penetrate the skin, triggering an immune response.

Other potential irritants include:
* Copper: Can cause skin to turn green and sometimes irritate.
* Brass: An alloy that often contains nickel or copper.
* Certain Platinums: Some white gold alloys may use nickel for plating.

What Does “Hypoallergenic” Really Mean?

The term “hypoallergenic” means “below normal” or “slightly” allergenic. In jewelry, it denotes materials less likely to cause an allergic reaction. It is not a regulated guarantee, but a reliable indicator. For maximum safety, look for earrings that are explicitly labeled “Nickel-Free.”

Top Hypoallergenic Materials for Earrings

When shopping, prioritize earrings made from these body-friendly materials:

1. Surgical Stainless Steel (316L):
A high-grade, corrosion-resistant alloy containing chromium. True *implant-grade* surgical steel is nickel-free and exceptionally safe for fresh piercings and sensitive skin.

2. Titanium:
Lightweight, durable, and inherently nickel-free. Implant-grade titanium is the gold standard for hypoallergenic jewelry, especially for new piercings, as it’s biocompatible and used in medical implants.

3. Niobium:
Similar to titanium in its hypoallergenic properties. It’s highly biocompatible and can be anodized to create beautiful, vibrant colors without using plating that might irritate.

4. Pure Precious Metals:
* Solid 14k or 18k Gold: Look for *yellow* or *rose* gold. White gold is often alloyed with nickel; ensure it’s explicitly nickel-free or plated with rhodium.
* Platinum: A dense, precious metal that is naturally hypoallergenic and tarnish-resistant.
* Fine Silver (.999): Pure and soft. Note that sterling silver (.925) contains copper and may cause reactions in some.

5. Plastic or Acrylic:
Excellent for temporary wear or fully covering earring posts. Ideal for children or for those with extreme sensitivities.

Key Shopping Tips for Sensitive Ears

* Read Labels Carefully: Seek out “nickel-free,” “hypoallergenic,” and “for sensitive ears.”
* Prioritize Post Material: The earring back and post have the most contact with your skin. Ensure these components are made of a safe material, even if the decorative front isn’t.
* Choose High-Quality Plating: Avoid cheap plating (like gold-plated over nickel), which can wear off quickly, exposing the irritant beneath. Look for high-quality plating over a hypoallergenic base metal or consider solid metals.
* Shop from Reputable Brands: Many brands specialize in hypoallergenic jewelry. Research and read reviews from other customers with sensitive skin.
* Consider Threadless or Labret Studs: These high-quality body jewelry styles often use implant-grade titanium or steel fronts with separate, secure posts, offering safety and a minimalist look.

Caring for Your Hypoallergenic Earrings

1. Clean Regularly::

Gently clean posts and backs with rubbing alcohol before and after wearing to remove oils and bacteria.

2. Keep Dry::

Remove earrings before swimming, showering, or exercising to prevent sweat and moisture from trapping irritants against the skin.

3. Start Slow::

Even with safe materials, introduce new earrings by wearing them for a few hours at a time to ensure comfort.

Conclusion:

Don’t Compromise on Comfort

Sensitive skin doesn’t have to mean a life without earrings. By understanding the metals that cause reactions and choosing earrings crafted from proven hypoallergenic materials like titanium, niobium, and surgical steel, you can adorn your ears with confidence. Investing in quality, nickel-free jewelry is an investment in comfort, allowing you to express your personal style without the irritation. Your skin—and your style—will thank you.

Understanding the Struggle: Why Shoes Are

The pain, stiffness, and reduced dexterity in the hands, fingers, and back make bending over and manipulating traditional laces or small buckles a significant challenge. Fortunately, innovative footwear design has risen to meet this need, with magnetic closure shoes emerging as a true game-changer for comfort, independence, and style.

Understanding the Struggle:

Why Shoes Are a Problem

Arthritis, particularly osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, affects the joints. This can lead to:

* Hand Pain and Weakness: Tying laces requires fine motor skills and pressure that can be excruciating.
* Reduced Range of Motion: Stiffness in the back, hips, and knees makes bending down to reach the feet difficult or unsafe.
* Swelling: Feet often swell throughout the day, requiring shoes that can adjust easily.

Traditional footwear often exacerbates these issues, turning a necessary daily activity into a source of frustration and dependence.

The Magnetic Solution:

How They Work

Magnetic closure shoes replace laces, zippers, and tricky buckles with a simple, powerful, and elegant system. Typically, they feature:

1. A Wide Opening::

Often designed as a slip-on or with a single wide strap that lays flat across the foot.

2. Integrated Magnets::

Strong, discreet magnets are embedded within the shoe’s strap and its corresponding base. The strap is simply laid over the foot and guided toward the base.

3. A Secure “Snap”::

The magnets engage with a satisfying click, securing the shoe firmly and evenly across the instep. To remove, a gentle tug is all it takes to release the magnetic hold.

This mechanism requires no pinching, pulling, or intricate finger work—just a simple, sweeping motion.

Key Benefits for Arthritis Management

1. Effortless Independence: This is the foremost advantage. Users can put on and take off their shoes without assistance, preserving dignity and self-reliance. There’s no need to ask for help with laces.

2. Pain-Free Fastening: The system eliminates the need to apply painful pressure with fingers. The magnetic engagement is smooth and requires minimal force.

3. Adjustable Fit: Many magnetic closure shoes allow for micro-adjustments. The strap can be secured at various points along the magnetic base, accommodating swelling and ensuring a perfect, comfortable fit throughout the day.

4. Enhanced Stability and Support: A well-designed magnetic closure provides uniform pressure across the foot, which can offer superior stability compared to unevenly tied laces. Many styles are built with supportive soles, ample cushioning, and orthotic-friendly designs.

5. Stylish and Discreet: Gone are the days of compromising on style for accessibility. Magnetic closures are sleek and often indistinguishable from fashionable buckles or straps. They are available in a wide range of designs, from athletic sneakers and walking shoes to casual loafers and elegant flats.

What to Look for When Choosing a Pair

Not all magnetic shoes are created equal. When shopping, consider:

* Magnet Strength: The closure should feel secure and confident, not flimsy.
* Ease of Use: Test the motion. It should be intuitive and require minimal dexterity.
* Overall Shoe Quality: Look for supportive arches, cushioned footbeds, lightweight materials, and non-slip soles.
* Adjustability: Ensure the closure allows for some range of adjustment to fit your foot perfectly.

A Step Toward Easier Living

Wedding Planning 101: Keep It Simple With A Wedding Timeline For Brides And Grooms

You’re Engaged!

You certainly want to enjoy this wonderful and magical time in your life but you know that planning your own wedding is going to be a big job! The following checklists might make it a little easier for you to keep it simple, keep it organized and keep you sane!

The 12-Month Countdown

6-12 Months Before Your Wedding…

The wedding date has been set and now like any large project, it’s a good idea to step back and take a look at the big picture first, then break it down to the finer details later.

The Big Picture: Who, What, Where and How:

Decide who will pay for what, where you’ll get married and how expenses will be shared

Talk to friends, family, bridal consultants or wedding coordinators to get the direction you need for starting an organization system.

For most couples, the wedding day can be a blur, so decide early on the best way to capture your special day’s cherished memories – like with an Adesso Photo Guest Book.

The Details

Once you have your organization system in place, start going down your to-do detail list. Here are a few of the critical ones:

Call your church or synagogue for an appointment with the Officiate

Explore pre-marriage counseling

Decide on what size wedding you want

Consider and decide on wedding attendants

Start a guest list for the wedding

Begin determining ideas/themes/color schemes for your wedding and reception

Select a reception location and a caterer if need be

Consider reception entertainment

Select a florist

Together, shop for wedding rings

Select a wedding dress, headpiece and schedule fittings

Decide on the bridesmaids’ dresses

4 – 6 Months Prior To Wedding Date…

As the wedding date gets closer, the to-do list will consist of finer and finer details. And because you put an organization system in place months ago, you won’t miss a one!

Check details and requirements for marriage license

Coordinate theme and color schemes with florist and decorator

Decide on a gift registry and register your gift selections

Order your invitations and other wedding stationery

Shop for the groom’s attire and select what the men in the wedding will wear

Select wedding ceremony readings

Select wedding ceremony music

Decide and order wedding favors

Select a bakery for the cake

Arrange and plan honeymoon

Review your agreements with all your vendors and service providers to insure you haven’t forgotten any details.

2-Months… and Counting

Mail out invitations

Arrange and plan your rehearsal dinner

Select and purchase your wedding day accessories

Arrange attendant’s parties

Coordinate and prepare accommodations for out-of-town guests

Select a hairdresser and makeup artist and schedule those appointments

Finalize those honeymoon plans

1-Month To Go!

Last wedding dress fitting

Final fitting for bridesmaids’ dresses

Final fitting for men attendants

Get marriage license

Have your wedding attendant’s parties

Shop and purchase your outfit to wear when you leave the reception

Organize the final check list of wedding day events

Confirm all the wedding day “accessories” are in order, i.e. rings, pillows, garter, etc.

2-Weeks Remaining! It’s finalizing time.

Finalize entertainment arrangements

Go over and finalize music lists, and special music events, i.e. first dance, dance with parents, etc.

1-Week Before Your Big Day!

Review your marriage license to make sure it’s in order

Prepare seating arrangements for ceremony

Prepare payment envelopes for Officiate, entertainment and vendors and give to the person who will handle that

Confirm honeymoon reservations

Make necessary honeymoon preparations, i.e. bank, traveler’s checks, etc.

Prepare and pack for honeymoon

Confirm out-of-town guest accommodations and transportation

Check in with the florist to confirm arrival time set up

Have your wedding ceremony rehearsal letting everyone know what they will do on the wedding day

Have and ENJOY your rehearsal dinner!

Your Wedding Day!

Allow plenty of time for your scheduled hair and makeup appointments

Allow at least 2 hours for dressing

Bring the rings and marriage license

And MOST IMPORTANTLY, take a long deep breath and relax and enjoy your day!

Simple Simon Says, Follow Strip Poker Rules!

The Rise of Strip Poker

The popularity of strip poker was fueled by TV shows and the web. The internet version uses multi-user chat rooms, webcams and microphones. Users pit their skills against each other and the game ends with player clothed or outstripped. Even without money involved, online strip poker can be just as thrilling as real strip poker games. Both follow strip poker rules, which may vary though.

Chips or Strip?

If you don’t have the guts to do a real strip in front your poker opponents, then strip on line. Stripping online affords a sense of unreality about the whole thing. Your opponents can only ogle you through their webcams; whether its chips or strip, there are sets of rules to follow. Before you start pitting yourself against ace players here are some strip poker rules to guide you.

Simple Strip Poker Rules

For offline games, it is prudent to select the players. Party strip poker themes must only include guests who are too willing to participate and enjoy the game. It is also an unspoken rule that the game be only played with friends. It is taboo to let family members and neighbors participate.

Strip poker should be held in real tight privacy. There should be no children around or nosey neighbors. Ideally, players should be partners or would-be partners to add a lot of sizzle to any adult party.

Strip Poker is played similarly to the standard poker. Instead of cash, losers are required to strip. Before a game starts players should agree on the cost of each clothing article. The cost of a pair or single socks, shorts, necktie or handkerchief must all be itemized and evaluated. The cost of the items also represents the cash counterparts absent in the game.

The second golden rule demands that all players wear the same number of clothing. It would be unfair if some players don layers of outer clothing, while the rest did not. They can also agree on the matter of buying back clothes. However, strip poker regulations are flexible.

Strip poker should be simple, and betting rounds fewer. This takes off the sting in live strip poker. The loser is determined by the number of clothes he has removed. Of course, the lucky winner has some piece of clothing on.

Truth, Dare or Strip

Since strip poker rules are not rigid, players can decide beforehand if they should start with cash bets. As it happens when the cash dries up, the stripping begins. The real fun starts and the scene heats up offline or online. The players can also be divided into two teams – men against women.

Players may decide on truth or dare. Here, the loser is asked if he wants a dare or a question. The questions may be difficult mind teasers or personal. It is one of the unspoken strip poker rules to require players to ask relatively harmless personal questions. Everybody is there for the fun, not the fight. Right?

A Simple Jewelry Guide

Body jewelry is a trend that is here to stay. While a single, sparkly bellybutton piercing can be sexy, it is possible to take the trend too far. Body piercing can be meaningful and has existed in some cultures for generations but it’s fairly new to most of us. It is difficult for someone in their 60’s to understand why a teenager has spikes sticking out of his face.

Jewelry is a nice accessory to any outfit. Jeans and a t-shirt can look so ordinary, but paired with a cute chunky bracelet, or a fun pair of earrings, even the dullest outfit can look unique. A colorful choker necklace can brighten up any look, and a uniquely beaded ankle bracelet can accompany any old skirt. Mix and match traditional looks with nontraditional jewelry pieces to create one-of-a-kind looks you’ll love.

Buying a diamond is an investment and you should learn everything you can about finding the right diamond for you. The most important factors to consider, besides your budget, are learning the terms associated with diamond’s cut, clarity, color and carat weight. These are essential and fundamental features of a diamond that should be learned before purchasing one. Also, think about insuring your diamond to protect your investment.

When you are participating in physical activities or working out and exercising very vigorously, the best way to protect your jewelry is to remove it before you get started. Have a special pouch or case for the items in your gym bag, and always lock up your belongings while you are busy being active.

When stitching peyote rings for your jewelry design, try stitching around a small dowel or pencil. This will help the peyote rings keep their shape while you are working on the jewelry pieces. They are also easily removable (just slide them out!). This works great for beginners who struggle with maintaining the shape of the rings and stitching at the same time.

Gold prices are higher than ever and are expected to continue rising. As a result, silver rings, bracelets, and necklaces in 92.5 percent silver are a better bet for your money. Avoid purchasing pieces that are made of so-called “German silver” or “nickel silver” as they contain little to no actual silver.

For men, if you are looking to sport a fancy tie tack, you need to stay away from wearing colorful or pattern rich ties. A fancy tie tack is best worn on a plain tie, meaning that it is solid in nature. So if you want to wear a busy or colorful and flashy tie, use a tie tack that is more plain.

Try to be fashionable with this trend but don’t go too far. You may regret putting multiple holes in your face when you are 30 years old and have scars from your teenage piercings. Not everyone appreciates this look so try to be patient with your grandparents. It’s good to be an individual but that means not doing what everyone else does.

If you’re looking for a precious gemstone like black onyx jewelry that makes a simple statement: power and class. These are two things that represent masculinity. Because of the dark color of the stone, it is a great contrast to metal settings like gold, silver and platinum. This opens up a lot of doors to jewelers, as it can be elegant in any shape, style or size. This classic gemstone is used with a lot of men’s rings, necklaces, bracelets and cufflinks. For both formal occasions and casual events, onyx jewelry can blend well with any wardrobe. You can easily incorporate onyx jewelry with your existing wardrobe.

This is perhaps the reason why men’s black onyx jewelry is more popular than ever today. Because of it’s timelessness and elegance, a lot of men are buying them as an investment for years to come.

Men are beginning to see the fashion benefits of black onyx jewelry – particularly bracelets. Some come in braided rope designs, and can be designed with links. Simpler designs are solid metal, with black onyx set in. Usually, the stones are cut round or square. Sometimes, triangular and rectangular shaped stones are used to set in the bracelet, to give it a very rustic feel some men prefer.

Meanwhile, onyx rings can be set with semi-precious or precious metals, and can be used to showcase the beauty of black onyx. They can be set with a number of other precious stones. Sometimes, the onyx is used to create detail blended with the metal. A lot of men wear rings set with this stone because military unit rings, religious rings, class rings and fraternal rings are usually set with onyx. For father’s day, you can consider giving an onyx ring with a special inscription to your dad. It’s a special way to say thank you for all the things he’s done.

Those who work in the corporate world will find that black onyx jewelry, cufflinks in particular, can add that professional, business-savvy look they need. The options are endless. Black onyx goes with any color, so you won’t have any problems coordinating your black onyx cufflinks to your tie. Classic, basic styles call for stones that are cut in the shape of an oval, square, circle, or rounded square. However, for those who want an edgy look, cable designs and themed cufflinks can easily work.

Every man’s wardrobe can benefit from the beauty of black onyx. Whether it’s one bracelet or several cufflinks, you will surely find that you can incorporate it with your everyday look. Because it is so versatile, you won’t have problems taking these pieces of jewelry from day to night. They are great to five as gifts for father’s day to tell your dad he’s special. You can also give them to your loved ones on Christmas, Valentines, or an anniversary as a gift. They’ll surely appreciate the unique beauty of the stone. With black onyx jewelry, you can never go wrong.

Within the realms of female grooming, bikini hair removal is not only a perfectly common occurrence, it has also become a necessity. I doubt many of us have gone to the beach or a resort where people are clothed in bathing suits, and have been exposed to any bikini lines that haven’t been groomed in some manner.

It is safe to say this has become a standard practice for women, and in this day and age, for many men as well. Sports men as well as women remove hair from their bikini areas. Famous men and women do. Our neighbors do. Members of our family do. We do.

However not everything is quite as simple as it appears at first glance.

Let us look at some facts:

yes, I do need to groom my bikini line
yes, the extent depends mainly on the size of the swimming suit or shorts
yes, there are times I develop a rash
yes, there have been times when I have cut myself
yes, it is embarrassing when obvious signs are visible, be it missed hairs or skin irritation.

Most people develop a system. After all systems are in vogue. We apply a system for waking up, perhaps turning off the alarm clock and rolling over. We apply a system for going to sleep, for dressing, for putting on our shoes. In a short period of time these systems, without our noticing, become habits. Some habits are good, as they allow us to reach our goals; while some habits are not so good as we do not reach the goals we have set, but instead we keep on repeating our actions with the same results.

We set up systems and habits, perhaps unconsciously perhaps not, but we do so, so as to simplify our lives, to speed up our actions. If we have to think and plan all of our actions everyday, every time, we would probably spend more time thinking about things than doing anything at all.

What has all this to do with bikini hair removal?

As grooming your bikini line is part of many people’s routine setting up a practical system that can turn into a habit has great advantages. The point being, to set up a practical and effective routine (effective and practical being the key words), a little prior thought should allow us to obtain the desired results.

This takes us onto: Developing A Bikini Hair Removal System

A quick look at what we don’t want:

to try out everything that has been invented under the sun
to make it a long and complicated process
half hearted results
pain
excessive investment in time or money
In short we want a great looking bikini line – which includes not only symmetry in our bikini line, but the most natural look possible.

If we look back at our system requirements and our “don’t want” list, we find a guiding light: we must keep it simple. (A most practical way of looking at life as well – from bikini hair removal to principles of life…)

Therefore to keep it simple, we shave. And just to complicate thing a bit, we have two choices: we can use a razor or we can use an electric shaver.

To use a razor, we:

trim the hair, to avoid clogging the razor
moisten it as when shaving any area, but more importantly because our pubic hair is coarser
apply shaving foam generously
shave using gentle strokes, and go over shaved area without foam
shave carefully and patiently.

To effectively use an electric shaver, we follow the instructions. The main ones being:

apply to short hair -if hair is longer, trim.
apply it to dry hair, as moisture softens the hair and complicates its removal.
we try it out softly and gently anticipating our visit to the beach as well as the few days our skin may require to adjust to this new system.
we add talcum powder or baby powder after we have shaved.
we do it again

So the end result is, we have removed hair from our bikini line, we have done so quickly and effectively and we can do so again whenever we want to. We have applied a principle of life, we have kept it simple.
